[Department of Advanced Materials Research and Development]
This department conducts research and development of new materials such as functional materials, energy materials, and flame-retardant materials. Regardless of the fields of metallic materials, inorganic materials, organic materials including polymer materials, and composite materials, this division aims to create new materials that can contribute to various industries.
[Department of Superatoms, Nanoclusters and Nanoparticles Research and Development]
Superatoms (clusters of multiple atoms condensed by interaction, having an electronic structure different from that of their constituent elements and exhibiting new functions), nanoclusters (clusters of atoms and molecules with a diameter of approximately 2 nm or less), and nanoparticles (clusters of atoms and molecules with a particle size on the nm order) are attracting attention as new materials. This department conducts research and development on methods for fabricating, analyzing, and evaluating the functions about these nano-sized materials.
[Department of Surface Engineering Research and Development]
This department conduct research and development of new surface technology and surface functionality using dry processes such as vacuum evaporation, sputtering, ion plating, CVD, plasma CVD, and plasma hardening, and wet processes such as electroplating, electroless plating, anodization, chemical conversion treatment, and sol-gel methods. This department also conducts research and development of new surface technologies and new surface functions by making full use of these processes.
[Department of Semiconductor Processing and Surface Mounting Research and Developmen]
Semiconductor devices, mainly made of silicon, are made by integrating various surface technologies such as lithography, etching, plating, CVD, and sputtering. In addition, circuit technologies such as printed circuits are based on integration of various surface technologies. This department conducts research and development related to semiconductor processing and surface mounting.
[Department of Manufacturing and Materials Processing Research and Development]
Various processing techniques are used to turn bulk materials into products. The manufacturing fields is undergoing evolutionary changes, such as metalworking technology using newly developed presses, 3D printing technology, and AI manufacturing technology. This department conducts research and development related to this new manufacturing and material processing.
[ Department of Functional Foods Research and Development]
The food we eat every day must be safe and secure. Today, food additives abound, and new safe, secure and highly nutritious food materials are required. This department conducts research and development of new food material creation technologies, such as ultrafine soybean powder with improved functionality, and new food products using these materials.
[ Functional Food Science Research Institute]
This institute collaborates with the Department of Functional Foods Research and Development to conduct research and development related to functional food science.
